Welcome! Since 2013, I’ve been in the role of developing clinicians as a Qualified Supervisor in Florida for Mental Health Counselor licensure. I was trained in EMDR by Roy Kiessling, founder of EMDR Consulting, in early 2017. Continuing that passion for helping clinicians hone their skills, I became an EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training (CIT) in early 2020 under Approved Consultant Jennifer Harwood, LCSW, LCAC, who is an affiliate faculty member of the Institute for Creative Mindfulness, founded by Jamie Marich.
What this means is that I am a Certified EMDR therapist working towards the Approved Consultant designation. As a CIT, I can provide EMDR consultation for up to 15 of the 20 consultation hours required by EMDRIA for certification. The other 5 must be provided by an Approved Consultant. Additionally, at least 10 of these 20 hours must be individual (1:1), and the other 10 can be earned in either individual or group format.
If you’ve completed the full training (minimum 20 hours didactic, 20 hours practicum, and 10 hours of basic training consultation) through an EMDRIA-approved trainer and are interested in Consultation to become certified, feel free to contact me to see if I’d be a good fit (See current training and fees below).
(Please Note: PESI, Green Cross Academy of Traumatology & The Bodymind Institute are NOT EMDRIA Approved Training Providers – per EMDRIA’s website).
See all other requirements and the FAQ for Certification, including additional EMDRIA Continuing Education and State Licensure requirements here: https://www.emdria.org/emdr-training-education/emdr-certification/certification-criteria-application/
While certification is not presently required after completing the basic training to practice EMDR, the additional consultation received while working toward certification was invaluable.
Additionally, consultation is not the same as supervision. Rather the focus is on proficiency in using the 8 phases and 3 prongs of the standard EMDR protocol, as well as identifying when it may be necessary to introduce modifications. Some areas of focus in my own practice include:
- *Adult clients
- *Communal trauma
- *Family of origin issues
- *LGBTQIA+ clients
- *Simple, complex, and recent trauma (with ongoing learning about dissociation and parts work)
- *Substance use disorders
- *Telehealth and EMDR
As a CIT, I continually stay up-to-date on current changes within EMDR therapy, and also seek advanced EMDR training and ongoing consultation.
I have taken additional EMDR training in:
- *The Flash Technique
- *Recent Trauma Protocols – RTEP/GTEP
- *Sandra Paulsen’s webinar based on her book Looking Through the Eyes of Trauma and Dissociation
- *Robin Shapiro’s live training based on her book Easy Ego State Interventions
- *Multidimensional Inventory of Dissociation (MID) training
Consultation Service Fees (Currently 1:1 only for now):
- *1:1 Consultation (Ongoing consultation toward certification, or One-time case consult not toward certification) – $75.00 per hour (in 1-hour blocks)
- *Group Consultation (Toward Certification) – (Groups TBD at this time)
