Welcome! As a Qualified Supervisor in Florida for Mental Health Counselor licensure since 2013, I’ve been passionate about helping clinicians develop their skills. To further my own skillset, I was trained in EMDR by Roy Kiessling, founder of EMDR Consulting, in early 2017. Continuing that passion for helping clinicians hone their skills, after becoming Certified in 2019 I became an EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training (CIT) in early 2020 and became a full Approved Consultant as of 05/01/2022. I am also a Coach (Facilitator) for EMDR Basic Trainings provided by EMDR Consulting, LLC and am also able to provide consultation toward the 10 hours required for Basic Training for those trained by EMDR Consulting.

If you have completed EMDR Basic Training through an EMDRIA-Approved program, meaning all 40 hours of lecture and 10 hours of consultation, you are eligible to begin working toward EMDR Certification. As an Approved Consultant, I can provide EMDR consultation for all 20 hours required by EMDRIA for certification. At least 10 of these 20 hours must be individual (1:1), and the other 10 can be earned in either individual or group format.

If you’ve completed the Certification process and you’re interested in becoming a Consultant-in-Training, I’d be happy to discuss Consultation of Consultation as well.

Please scroll to the bottom of the page for current Consultation Rates and contact information.

Why Get Certified?

While certification is not presently required after fully completing the basic training to practice EMDR, the additional consultation while working toward certification can help to strengthen skills even further. I know many folks who aren’t Certified that are amazing EMDR clinicians. I also know many more that took Basic Training and then stopped using EMDR because they didn’t have the ongoing support to feel confident in using it, especially as cases grew more complex.

Additionally, EMDRIA holds that Consultation is not the same as Clinical Case Supervision. Rather, the focus is on proficiency in using the 8 phases and 3 prongs of the standard EMDR protocol, as well as identifying when it may be necessary to introduce modifications.

Certification requires a minimum of 20 hours of consultation, however, there is a possibility that more hours may be needed in order to assess progress and provide a letter of recommendation. Assessing progress may include reviewing EMDR session examples of all phases, including recordings, transcripts, or case presentation forms.

**Simply attending consultation for the required hours is not enough to earn the recommendation, and this would be discussed earlier in the process if indicated. The process also includes working with a minimum of 25 clients, across a total of 50 sessions, utilizing the 8 phases of EMDR. There are also required EMDRIA CE requirements, and you must have your full independent license in your state/jurisdiction to apply, not an associate/registered intern status.

(Please Note: PESI, The Bodymind Institute, Green Cross Academy of Traumatology, Maiberger Institute, and Parnell Institute are NOT EMDRIA Approved Training Providers – per EMDRIA’s website. This means that EMDR basic trainings taken through them do not count toward the EMDRIA certification requirement).

Post-Certification: Consultant-in-Training to became an EMDRIA Approved Consultant

Once you are fully certified, you are eligible to become a Consultant-in-Training (CIT) to begin working toward Approved Consultant status.

This process includes a minimum of 20 hours of Consultation of Consultation, which evaluates the CIT’s work with their Consultees. The process also includes working with a minimum of 75 clients, across a total of 300 sessions, utilizing the 8 phases of EMDR. It also includes working with at least 5 Consultees, along with time after CIT declaration and EMDRIA CE requirements. See more about the CIT/AC requirements here: EMDR CIT/Approved Consultant FAQ

Why Consider Working Together?

With so many skilled EMDR Approved Consultants available, I appreciate the possibility of working together. In this role, I’ve guided many clinicians toward earning their Certification or Consultant-in-Training statuses. Additionally, since 2023, I’ve coached/facilitated over 3 dozen EMDR Basic Trainings and supported hundreds of clinicians through their required 10 hours of Basic Training group consultation, and continue to do this training work ongoing.

If you are an EMDRIA UPSIDE (formerly RESI) Award funds recipient, I also participate as a Consultant for that program.
